Derek Lee Thorsen 
Graphic Designer & 3D Modeler  

 

Derek Lee Thorsen is a skilled Graphic Designer and 3D Modeler with a passion for crafting dynamic, high-impact visual content. With over eight years as a Graphic Artist II at Carley Corporation (2017–2025), Derek developed engaging 2D and 3D multimedia assets for Navy and DoD training programs, including the Sailor 2025 (S2025) Ready Relevant Learning (RRL) initiative, RRL FY2020, CH-53K helicopter, E-6B aircraft, Triton II Drone (MQ-4C), and MH-60S helicopter. He led a two-month MH-60S helicopter 3D modeling project, guiding a team to deliver photorealistic visuals that met stringent client standards, demonstrating his leadership and technical precision.  

 

Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, Captivate, After Effects), 3ds Max, Maya, Blender, Unity, and Substance Painter, Derek excels at creating SCORM-compliant animations, UI designs, and graphics that enhance learning experiences. His ability to transform complex technical content into accessible, visually compelling deliverables, paired with his collaborative approach, earned him multiple Employee of the Month awards for outstanding creativity and dedication.  

 

A graduate of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale with a Bachelor of Science in Game Art and Design (2011–2016, GPA: 3.6), Derek brings a strong foundation in multimedia design and instructional technology. With expertise in DoD training standards, a talent for thriving in fast-paced environments, and eligibility for Secret clearance, he is driven to create innovative visual solutions across industries. Based in Titusville, FL, Derek is eager to contribute his technical and creative expertise to impactful projects worldwide.
